She's the daughter of Harvey Welker (a Native American father) and Julie Welker (an African-American mom). Her mother is an agent in real estate while her father holds a degree in engineering. Walker was educated in the Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia's Germantown area where she graduated in 1994. In 1998, she graduated with a bachelor's of arts qualification from Harvard College. Welker is married for over 20 years to John Hughes who is a well known marketing director of Merck Philadelphia. They have two children. They began to have an affair with one other. John her husband, is just four years older than her. It was going great which is why they chose to keep their friendship going.
