Taylor

Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop: she is the only celebrity to have transitioned from the traditional to the mainstream and become a global pop culture icon. Swift removed herself from country music like a second-skin and showed she had the finest pop sensibility in her time. Swift was the only artist/singer who could be a part of the trending zeitgeist and take it when she went on tour. The skills she displayed are evident in some of her first tracks, including the Neodue Tim McGraw. But on the second album Fearless which came out in 2008, Swift could identify the person she was and reach a wide audience. Fearless went on to become a global hit and not just in the United States (where it earned six times platinum for the Top Ten Hits Love Story and "You Belong with Me") as well as in Canada Australia as well as the U.K. and other countries. Swift's next album Speak Now, released nearly two years following the first one, consolidated this momentum. It helped propel Swift to superstardom. In the following three years, her popularity grew through the years -three times - Red (2012), Reputation (2014) in addition to 1989 (2014-2015) -- as she entered a new world of pop music in which her talent was already well established. In the end, when she refocused her music with the stripped-down releases of 2020, Folklore, and Evermore but she was still at the top. This position was maintained by re-recordings from her past catalog as in Midnights the synth-based chart-topper 2022 album.
