[2] Ortiz is most well-known for his participation in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is an ex-UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, having held the title since April 14th, 2000 until September 26 2003. He was a pioneer of the sport, along with Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture. Ortiz became the biggest pay-per-view draw of 2006 thanks to his bouts with Forrest Griffin, Ken Shamrock and Liddell.
